Some laptop batteries become conditioned to your usage habits. For example, if you frequently only use your lithium ion battery for an hour before recharging it, it will become accustomed to running out of power and requiring recharging after an hour. These batteries are designed for deep discharge, so it is okay to run them until they almost completely discharge before you charge them again.

In order to correct battery memory problems, you must completely drain the power from your battery and fully recharge it for 12 hours. Do this four times in a row and your battery will be refreshed. Feel free to use your battery for longer than an hour or two at a time and it will learn your new usage habits.

For the best care, use your laptop battery at least once every two weeks. Leave the battery in your computer while you work, so the AC adapter can keep it charged. If you do not use the battery for more than 2 weeks, you should completely discharge it, then store it at room temperature.
